Full Metal Panic! returns with a new anime
A decade may have passed since the last Full Metal Panic! anime, but our favorite series returns again with a new Full Metal Panic! anime project that is titled Full Metal Panic! IV. The news were announced at this year's "Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai" event, while the series will premiere in fall 2017. Furthermore, the staff and a teaser image were revealed for the new anime.
Katsuichi Nakayama is assigned to the direction of the series in XEBEC studio, while the author of the original novel, Shoji Gatoh, is handling the series composition and writing all the scripts. Osamu Horiuchi (Full Metal Panic!, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid) is designing the characters, serving as the chief animation director. Kanetake Ebikawa and Toshiaki Ihara are the mechanical designers and finally, Masanori Nishii is the mechanical director.
Latest news about the cast have not been announced, however, voice actor Tomokazu Seki (Sōsuke Sagara), Satsuki Yukino (Kaname Chidori) and Yukana (Teletha "Tessa" Testarossa) appeared at the event.
The original novel series Full Metal Panic! debuted in 1998 with the 12th and final volume to have been released in 2010. The story inspired the first 24-episode anime series in 2002, followed by Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu in 2003 with 12 episodes. In 2005 the third 13-episode anime series was released, entitled Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid. Moreover, several spin-off manga and other novels are based on the original novel, one of which is Full Metal Panic! Another that was released in 2011 and was completed in February 2015.
