Gintama returns to our screens
The official website of the Gintama television anime series surprised as with an announcement, stating that it will return to our screens with the "Porori Arc". Animedia magazine confirmed the news on its official Twitter account, posting the cover of August issue that features Gintama and an "unexpected" announcement about it. The anime will be released next fall, but it is not yet known whether it is a new series or it will include a re-run of old episodes.
Hideaki Sorachi launched the manga in 2004 and until today, it is still one of the top-selling manga in Japan, counting over 50 million copies in print. Last July, it entered its last arc.
The first television anime premiered in 2006 and continued (with several extended pauses) until 2013. The 5th and last series of Gintama was released on January 8 and in April a best-of re-run of the series started airing. The manga has also inspired two anime films with the latest Gekijōban Gintama Kanketsu-hen: Yorozuya yo Eien Nare to have been aired in 2013.
On July 14, the live-action film will open in Japan.
