Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine had announced in May, 2015 that Fairy Tail was to get a second anime film. Last Saturday, t he Japanese film distribution company GAGA opened a website revealing that the film is titled Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry. In addition, it became known that the premiere will take place in spring 2017.

The creator of the manga Hiro Mashima confirmed the news via his Twitter account, while a new official account for the film opened.

The manga has inspired so far two television anime series, several OVA and spinoff manga. The first anime movie was titled Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess and it was released in August, 2012.
