Soon after their announcement of the release of the new digital single titled "Taking off", ONE OK ROCK held us one more surprise. In 2017, the 8th studio album will be released. The announcement was made during their concert, on 10 and 11 September, where the band performed a special live event titled "ONE OK ROCK 2016 SPECIAL LIVE IN NAGISAEN". In this event, they also performed for the first time Taking off of the homonymous single.

Note that the last studio album of ONE OK ROCK was 35xxxv, which was released in February 2015.
