Shueisha’s Jump Next magazine is revealing on Thursday, in its first issue for this year, that Kuroko's Basketball anime will get a new compilation of three films in 2016. Furthermore, in 2017 it is expected to release a brand new film based on Tadatoshi Fujimaki’s Kuroko no Basuke Extra Game manga. The compilation of these three films will compile the Winter Cup episodes of the television series.

Kuroko no Basuke Extra Game is a sequel of the original manga. Kuroko no Basuke was launched in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2008 and was completed in September 2014. Shueisha published the 30th and final volume of the manga in Japan in December 2014. The sequel was launched in Jump Next in December 2014, after the end of the original, and it was announced it would end this month.
