New information about Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry anime film
New details were revealed in the 12th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen magazine for the second Fairy Tail anime film titled Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry. The premiere is scheduled for May 6 in Japan, while a new poster was posted on the official website with the tagline "That power … is it hope or destruction…?". The poster was drawn by the creator of the manga, Hiro Mashima.
Mashima is drawing 193 pages of storyboard for the film and is also serving as the executive producer. The cast returns to their original roles as follows:
Tetsuya Kakihara as Natsu Dragneel
Aya Hirano as Lucy Heartfilia
Rie Kugimiya as Happy
Yūichi Nakamura as Gray Fullbuster
Sayaka Ohara as Erza Scarlet
Satomi Satou as Wendy
Yui Horie as Carla/Charle
The characters of the film will be wearing new outfits in the film.
Tatsuma Minamikawa is directing the film at A-1 Pictures, while Shoji Yonemura is returning for the script, as in the two previous anime series. In the design of the characters is Yuuko Yamada, who is also serving as chief animation director and Yasuharu Takanashi will compose music. GAGA is distributing the film.
In addition, the official website of the film revealed that the manga is in its last arc and has over 60 million copies in print worldwide.
Fairy Tail manga has inspired two television anime series, several OVA and spinoff manga. The first anime film titled Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess, premiered on August 18, 2012.
