The sequel to the Sailor Moon Crystal anime is coming, but this time it will not be a TV series. The fourth season of the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal anime series will be a two-part film project. The news were announced on the official website for the Sailor Moon franchise, revealing that the films will cover the "Dead Moon" arc of Naoko Takeuchi's original manga. Chiaki Kon returns to the direct the films.

The third Sailor Moon Crystal season premiered in April 2016, covering the manga's Death Busters arc (or else Infinity arc).
