The first Sword Art Online VR game is a fact and Bandai Namco Entertainment is in charge of the project. The news were announced during the Tokyo Game Show 2017 and the game will be titled Sword Art Online Replication. 

The game will take place in Aincrad during the events of the first season of the television anime. Players will play as anonymous players stuck in Aincrad along with a hero called Mist, which they have to protect. The VR game will feature players fighting alongside characters Kirito and Asuna. 

Last month, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced a new console game called Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, which will be released in early 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
