Bad news coming from the manga industry, as the author and creator of High School of the Dead manga, Daisuke Satō, died on Wednesday March 22, at the age of 52. His death was attributed to ischemic heart disease. The family immediately held a funeral service with his younger sister, Yūko Shinmyō, as the chief mourner.

Satō’s works include the High School of the Dead with the artist Shoji Sato and the manga Imperial Guards with Yu Ito. High School of the Dead has been on an extended hiatus since March 2011, while a new chapter was released in April 2013.
