Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2016 Nominees
Tokyo Anime Award Festival is an international animation festival that has established since 2002. Its aim is to screen high-quality animation, superior in originality with powerful messages that inspire the public. Furthermore, there is an award for animation studios and contribute to the promotion of anime culture and industry.
The nominees for Animation of the Year 2016 were announced last Thursday and the awards ceremony will take place on March 21. We distinguish two main categories, theatrical animation and television animation.
In Theatrical Animation division we have the following nominees:
The Anthem of the Heart
The Boy and The Beast
Expelled from Paradise
Love Live! The School Idol Movie
Regarding the Television Animation Division we have the following:
Mr. Osomatsu
Your Lie in April
Shirobako
One-Punch Man
To be accepted, a work should had be screened in theaters or broadcasted on Japanese TV from November 1, 2014 to October 31, 2015. Tokyo Anime Award Festival will start screening these titles of the nominees from March 18 to March 21.
In 2014, Studio Ghibli with Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises won the film award and Attack On Titan was awarded in the category of Television Animation. At last year's awards, Frozen and Ping Pong the Animation won the respective awards.
